Microneedling

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is used to treat and improve conditions like acne scarring, fine line and wrinkles, loose skin, skin texture, pore size, brown spots, stretch marks and pigment issues. It is also called skin needling or collagen induction therapy.

The controlled skin injuries produced by microneedling send the skin into repair mode that triggers the body to produce new collagen as well as elastin, which is another protein found in the skin that provides our skin with desirable elasticity. Microneedling also encourages the growth of fibroblasts, epithelial and endothelial cells which can equate to a more even skin tone and a healthy glow.

How many Microneedling sessions are needed?

Conditions such as wrinkles caused by aging, one or two refresher treatments are recommended per year after a course. Microneedling can be safely repeated every 2 to 4 weeks as needed. Collagen induction requires at least three treatments while scar reduction requires between three and six. Just a few sessions of Microneedling will noticeably reduce fine lines, crow’s feet and deep wrinkles on the forehead.

For most wrinkles or stretch marks, depending on the severity, you may need four to eight Microneedling treatments to achieve optimal skin-tightening results.

The little holes from the needles create micro-channels that allow skincare products such as potent serums to penetrate and absorb into the deeper layers of the skin to deliver more powerful results.

After Microneedling Treatment
You can expect some redness for up to a couple of days afterwards as a result of all the skin stimulation but it subsides quickly as the healing begins and the reults of more glowing, supple skin start to show. To get truly effective results, you’ll need more than one treatment to continually build collagen elastin – between 4 to 6 sessions.
